‘Soggy’ doesn’t begin to describe the scene at Riverfront Equestrian this past Sunday where the Shamrock Series horse show was held. The long running show moved for the first time in over 15 years from it’s previous home, Killerney Farms, after the property sold last year. The move turned out to be lucky! Given the weather, the facility’s two indoor arenas allowed the show to be moved inside rather than be forced to cancel.

While it poured rain outside all day, spirits remained high inside as friends and family cheered on riders from their own barns and others in true equestrian spirit. Horse shows are not just for competition, they are a place where friends catch up with each other and their horses.

And this show was no exception. There were 76 riders, from young to older, most entered in multiple divisions across hunters and jumpers, ranging from cross poles to 3 feet. The warm ups were spectacularly managed by coaches working together as a team to keep everyone safe and helping with jump changes.

The low pressure and supportive atmosphere of this grassroots series is the perfect place to dip your toes into horse showing or to dip your young horse’s hooves.
