A letter to my first horse.
“To my dearest boy. The best boy.
I was never able to say anything when you passed. Because nothing I could say was enough to describe what you mean to me, how much I wasn’t ready for you to go, or how much it hurts that you’re gone and how much I miss you every day.
I couldn’t share this picture because I couldn’t talk about you. And honestly, I still can’t.
It’s been over a year and I still can’t say good bye. How do you say good bye to a part of yourself?
Every one of my best memories is with you, or with people I met because of you. Not many people get to experience what we had. Not many people get a lifetime with their first horse.
My first and forever horse.
Thank you for being more than I could have hoped for, more than I ever could have imagined that day I first saw you.
Thank you for going along with my silly ideas as a kid, sometimes I think you encouraged it.
Thank you for taking care of me. Even when I had to get on with various limbs in a cast.
Thank you for being my best friend and my soul mate. Even though I really dislike that term, I honestly believe you were.
Thank you for helping me find strength and courage inside myself. And lending me yours when I struggled.
Thank you for giving me a place to rest.
Thank you for inspiring me.
These words are not enough though. Even if I used all the words I don’t think they could ever be just right. But it’s all I have right now.
You will always be my best boy.
My first and forever.”
I cried as we took these pictures. I was worried my mascara was going to run. I hoped to god they turned out because I was out of time and chances to retake them.
This photo is the most important thing in the world to me.
So I hope you can understand when I tell you that you need to do the session. And that when you do you will have something indescribable. Because when a picture is worth a thousand words, you don’t need to find the right words. You feel everything when you look at it.
Message me to book your session.
